Lunar's extraction pipeline was designed specifically for IRS tax forms — not adapted from a generic OCR tool. Our 3-tier engine uses purpose-built AI models as a first pass, layout analysis with field-matching rules for edge cases, and advanced AI as an intelligent fallback. This layered approach means we handle everything from crisp digital PDFs to photos of crumpled forms taken on a phone.
On the security side, we use AES-256-GCM envelope encryption with per-firm keys secured by enterprise key management. Row-Level Security at the database level means tenant isolation isn't just application logic — it's enforced by PostgreSQL itself. And our immutable audit trail gives your compliance team a complete record of every action taken in the system.
